Drawing highlights allows you to call attention to specific areas of your screen while recording a video. This is a useful technique for emphasizing important points, buttons to click, or segments of your screen that need explanation.
Here are the steps:
Launch the screen recording and set up your recording window/parameters as desired.
Start your recording and navigate to the "Drawing tools" in the menu below the screen.
Within the Drawing Tools, you'll see options to select the highlight color and line thickness/width. Choose a color that will be highly visible against your screen background - recommended options are red, green, or yellow.
Set the line to be thick enough to stand out clearly, but not so thick that it obscures what you're highlighting. Thickness of a middle range is generally effective.
The highlight "ink" will temporarily display on your recorded screen for several seconds, allowing you to encircle or underline the sections you want to emphasize.
Tips:
Be judicious with your highlights - overusing them can become distracting. Apply them selectively on the most crucial content.
You can change the highlight color or thickness on-the-fly if needed during recording.
Once highlighted, you can describe or narrate the emphasis area before the highlight fades away.
Repeat the highlighting process throughout your recording session for any other areas needing reinforcement.
Using highlights effectively can greatly increase viewer attention and comprehension of your screen recording. Practice will help you become skilled at fluidly applying highlights in context during your presentations.
